Since 1986 we have been serving the needs of millwork facilities, cabinet manufacturers and lumber yards throughout Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina with quality hardwood and softwood lumber. Over the years we have become a leader in the wholesale distribution of plywood and hardwood flooring. Our goal at Heritage is not to become the biggest, but maintain our commitment to quality, service, and integrity. Our focus on these three principles has proven to be the key to our success since our humble beginnings. Don Meyer (President of Baillie Lumber Company) and Fred Blackmon (then at McEwen Lumber Company) met at the end of 1985 and exchanged ideas on opening a new wholesale forest products company in the Southeast. On February 1, 1986, Heritage Forest Products, Inc. began operations out of a 35,000 square foot warehouse in Orlando, Florida. Six people made up the entire Heritage family of employees at that time.

Our inventory consisted of West Coast softwoods, Appalachian and northern hardwoods. The initial territory was the Central Florida area only. All six employees had the same job description - "Whatever there is that needs to be done - Do It!"

Fast-forward to the year 2000 when we started up our Flooring Division and added our Savannah branch location. This enabled us to expand not only our product lines, but also our sales coverage area to include Georgia and South Carolina in addition to Florida. The Savannah addition also gave us ready access to the port of Savannah for import and export uses in the future.

In 2001, after outgrowing our Orlando facility, we moved to a warehouse in Deland, Florida that doubled our warehouse area (70,000 sq feet) and tripled our office space (5,000 sq feet). We now service all of Florida (except the panhandle area) and a part of southwestern Georgia from this facility. Our Savannah branch covers the rest of central and southern Georgia and a part of southeastern South Carolina.

As 2007 winds down, we are still strongest in upper grade hardwoods and softwoods. Sheet goods and flooring are the areas for greatest future growth @ Heritage, as well as other branch locations, which are being explored at this time.

Just as it was in February 1986, the common goal of our employees at Heritage in 2007 is to be the best that we can be and let others worry about being the biggest.
